October 19, 2014 (Sunday): Sound Image Cricket Club Lucknow has lifted the title of the Wai Wai Gautam Buddha International T20 Cricket Tournament 2014 on Sunday, October 19, 2014.
In the final match held at Shree Buddha Padma Rangashala in Kapilvastu, Taulihawa, on Sunday, Lucknow defeated Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) by 14 runs to bag the title.
In the first inning, Lucknow scored 121 runs with the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Anurag Sharma scored highest 43 runs.
Nichal Pandey claimed three wicket and Rupesh Shrivastav took wickets for Army Club. However, their attempts were in vain after the loss.
In return, Army could make only 107 runs with the loss of seven in allotted 20 overs. Rahul BK scored 31 runs. Mohammad Ahiraj and Mayank Yadav grabbed three wickets each for winner.
With the title, Lucknow bagged Rs 160,000 while the runner-up Army Club got Rs 100,000.
Lucknow's Adil Baker was announced the best batsman and Mohammad Ahiraj best bowler. They both received Rs 10, 000 each.
Sound Image Cricket Club Lucknow had defeated Dhangadi by 80 runs while Army Club beat Kapilvastu YCD Academy by eight wickets to advance to the final of the T20 tournament.
Altogether, 12 teams -- seven teams from Nepal and five from India -- had participated in the tournament that kicked off with the theme "Tourism with Sports" from October 12, 2014.
The teams include -- Kapilvastu YCD Academy, Khukhari Cricket Club, Rajasthan Cricket Academy, Delhi Cricket Council Lucknow, Tribhuvan Army Club, Gorakhpur, Birgunj, Janakpur, Dhangadi, Mahabir Cricket Academy KTM and Hariyana Cricket Federation.
